Your home, your rules. It means: Do what makes you happy. As the new year approaches, there are many new trends. To make way for new trends, it is necessary to let go of old trends. There is no rule that says you cannot have these features in your kitchen. These trends might not be the best for you if you are renovating your home and want to find timeless styles.
These are the top kitchen design trends for 2021.
1. Navy Cabinets
Navy is a timeless color that is well-loved, but it can feel boring when everybody uses it on their kitchen islands or lower cabinets. You can add color to your kitchen by using a different color, such as green, black or a natural wood tone. There are many other colors that can be used in your kitchen, and they aren’t all navy. So go ahead and push the boundaries of what you are doing.
2. Basic Tile Backsplashes
You shouldn’t do the backsplash on half of your wall. It’s common, but it can feel like a weak design effort. Right now, large slabs and fully tiled walls look great. A note to anyone who is considering tile: Consider embracing other shapes than the traditional rectangle. To increase versatility and longevity, you can use a warm, neutral palette.
3. Ornate Hardware
Avoid flashy accessories. We’re seeing more muted, brushed or matte-black finishes than shiny gold hardware. This is if hardware is being used at all. Kitchens will be moving in the right direction in 2021 if there is minimal cabinet design.
4. Unorganized Countertops
Many of us are still cooking from our kitchen tables in 2021. It is becoming more difficult to maintain clean countertops. Only keep what you use each day, and then give the rest a home in a cabinet or a donation box.
